Seychelles, India have an "excellent cooperation programme"

May 12, 2010 -- Seychelles and India have an excellent cooperation programme, the secretary to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Mr Vivek Katju, said yesterday after he was received by President James A Michel at State House.

Mr Katju was accompanied to State House by the joint secretary in the same ministry, ambassador Gurjit Singh, and the Indian high commissioner in Seychelles, Mr Asit Kumar Nag.

Also present at the meeting were principal secretary for foreign affairs, Mr Barry Faure, Seychelles' high commissioner to India, Mr Dick Esparon, and secretary of State Mr Jean-Paul Adam.

Mr Katju, who is leading the Indian government delegation at the 7th meeting of the Indo-Seychelles Joint Commission, said the two countries' relations were based on great understanding and his visit was an opportunity to enhance future cooperation.

Mr Katju added that he was in Seychelles to also prepare for an official visit by President Michel to India early next month.
