President Appoints New SAA Chairman

May 19, 2010 -- President James Michel has appointed Mr. Finley Racombo as the new chairman of the Seychelles Agricultural Agency.
Mr. Racombo replaces Mr. Walter Talma, who has left Seychelles after taking up a post as project coordinator for USAID in the COMESA Secretariat in Zambia.
Mr. Finley Racombo has over 30 years experience in the agricultural sector. His most senior posts include Principal Secretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources (from 1995 to 2004) and Special Advisor to the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, from 2004 to date.
Mr. Racombo was involved in the development of the National Food Security Strategy launched in May 2008, as well as the Fisheries Development Plan. Mr. Racombo is also the person behind the initiation of the Integrated Agriculture Development Programme in implementation today, which includes the building of agricultural roads, reservoirs and quarantines.
