Message of congratulations to Seychellois athletes winning golds at African Open Athletic Championships

President James Michel has sent message of congratulations to two Seychellois athletes, Ms. Lissa Labiche and Mr. Norris Brioche. The two high jumpers participated and won gold medals in the South African Open Athletic Championships held over the weekend in Potchefstroom.

In his message to Ms. Labiche, President Michel said: "It brings to our nation immense satisfaction when a Seychellois earns recognition beyond our shores for their achievements."

He commended Ms. Labiche for the accomplishment she has made ‘in the face of stiff competition,' where she was able to qualify for the forthcoming All Africa Games and the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

“We are immensely proud that two young Seychellois – yourself and Norris Brioche – have made it to the pinnacle of athletics at this internationally recognized competition. That you have made it to the top is due to your perseverance, hard work and commitment to your sporting discipline. Your journey to success will remain a source of inspiration for our young people; I hope that many of them will follow in your footsteps."

The President also praised Mr. Brioche for his success made at a young age in the high jump discipline ‘in the face of overwhelming odds.'

Mr. Michel have described both accomplishments as ‘a tremendous achievement of which we are all proud.'

“I wish you continued success in your participation in the many sporting events which lie ahead and wish to assure you of our full support as you continue to bring pride and glory to Seychelles in athletics. Once again, please accept my sincere congratulations on this memorable and singular achievement,” President Michel concluded in his message to both athletes.
