President announces top-level changes

June 25, 2010 -- President James Michel has announced the top-level changes in his office as well as Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Culture, Education, Investment and Industry following the recent Cabinet re-shuffle.
The Secretary of State (Cabinet Affairs) and Head of Civil Service is Mr. Mohammed Afif, formerly the Cabinet Secretary. Ambassador Barry Faure is the Secretary of State in the Office of the President. Dr. Rolph Payet is the Special Advisor to the President. Mrs Lise Bastienne has been appointed the Principal Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President. Mrs. Bastienne was formerly Director General for Presidential Affairs. Mr. Sebastien Pillay is the new Director General for Presidential Affairs. The Press Secretary, Ms. Srdjana Janosevic has been appointed Chief Press Secretary in the Office of the President. Mr. Patrick Bijoux has been appointed the Director-General for Administration & Finance in the Office of the President.
The President has nominated the Secretary of State in the Office of the President, Ambassador Barry Faure as the Chairman (Non-Executive) of the Seychelles Tourism Board. The former Marketing Director of the Seychelles Tourism Board Mr. Alain St. Ange will be the new Chief Executive Officer (Designate) of the STB. They will take office following the amendments of the STB Act 2009 in the National Assembly, in relation to the creation of these posts.
The previous Chairman and CEO of STB and newly-appointed Ambassador, Mr. Maurice Loustau Lalanne is the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
The former Principal Secretary for Education, Mrs. Jeanne Simeon has been appointed Principal Secretary in the Office of the Vice-President (Designate). Mr Hans Aglae is the Special Advisor to the Vice-President. Ms Aude Labaleine is the Director-General of the Vice-President's Office. Mrs. Maryse Berlouis, formerly Principal Secretary for Industry is the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Licensing Authority, which falls under the Ministry of Finance.

The former Principal Secretary for National Development Mr. Christian Lionnet assumes the role of Principal Secretary for Land Use and Housing. The former Principal Secretary for Investment and Transport, Mrs. Veronique Herminie has left government and is pursuing opportunities in the private sector. Ms Herminie will remain the Chairman of the Seychelles Fishing Authority.
Ms. Marie-Ange Hoareau is the Principal Secretary for Immigration and Civil Status in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Environment. The Police Commissioner Mr. Ernest Quatre and the Superintendent Mr. Maxime Tirant also report to the Minister for Home Affairs, Environment and Transport. In the Department of Environment, Ms. Jeanette Larue has been appointed director General for Education and Public Outreach and Mr. Alain de Commarmond is the Director General for Policy. Gerard Hoareau is the new Chief Executive Officer for the Seychelles Land Transport Agency. The portfolio responsibility for Disaster and Risk Management will now fall under the Environment department.
The former Director General for Schools Ms. Merida Delcy has been appointed Principal Secretary for Education.
The former Director General for Culture, Ms. Raymonde Onezime is the Principal Secretary for Culture. The previous Principal Secretary Mr. Denis Rose remains Principal Secretary for Youth and Sports, and Mr. Olsen Vidot remains the Principal Secretary for Community Development.
Ms. Lucy Athanasius has been named the Principal Secretary for Industry. She was formerly the Principal Secretary for the Vice-President. Ms. Athanasius retains responsibilities for the Young Leader Programme in collaboration with the University of Seychelles.
The new Principal Secretary for Investment and Natural Resources is Mr. Michel Nalletamby.
In the Ministry of Health, Mrs Hélène Maiche is the Principal Secretary for Health.
All other principal secretary and special advisor posts remain unchanged.
